#3 Opurino

"Puriplant pokémon" | GRASS / WATER

Appearance

Opurino are green creatures, with bodies composed of several "paddles," similar to cladodes, the leaf-like branches of certain cacti, especially prickly pears. Their bodies consist of at least five paddles: one for the head, two for the forelimbs, and two for the hind limbs.

The limbs/paddles have small crests, generally three-pointed (but variations may exist), growing on the outside. They have a tuft of spines that appear diamond-shaped when viewed from the front, light brown and golden on the chest. Their mouths are also protected by a circle of spines that, just like those on their chest, form a diamond when viewed from the front. Opurinos have a crown of yellow spines on top of their heads.

Gender Differences

None.

Abilities

Opurinos do not feed on solid food, but absorb water and photosynthesize. They are capable not only of neutralizing toxic substances, such as heavy metals, dissolved in water, but also of extracting nourishment from it. They are well adapted to the arid environment of the Trinacrian hinterland, where it sometimes goes without rain for months at a time, storing water in their body tissues. Although they are very peaceful Pokémon, their spines, as well as the stiff ridges on their arms—the result of the fusion of these spines—make them difficult prey.

Habitat

Initially found only in the island's hinterland, to which they are perfectly adapted, this Pokémon was later deliberately released into the coastal environment, where humans provide them with water and protect them.
